Music/Choir

The Carmel Mission Basilica Schola Cantorum is a traditional choral ensemble which assists with the music leadership every week at the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass. The repertoire of the group is drawn from the works of both contemporary and traditional Catholic composers.

Homebound Eucharistic Ministry

The Mysteries of God are made known in ways that reveal His Glory. Among other teachings, the Corporal works of mercy compassionately ask us to visit and comfort the sick. The grace of God has moved the hearts of a group of Homebound Eucharistic Ministers who bring Communion to the sick and infirm, those recovering from surgery, and the elderly who have difficulty getting to Mass.

Altar Society

The longest, continuous ministry at Carmel Mission Basilica is the Altar Society. The purpose of this Society has always been to provide care and upkeep for the altar linens and to give financial assistance for additional needs of the altar. A volunteer committee of Linen Care Helpers who collect, wash, and iron the purificators and corporals used at the Mass are assigned, each helping for a minimum of one month. We are always in need of more volunteers to help with this precious service.

Bereavement

The Carmel Mission Bereavement Ministry provides caring consolation and spiritual support to parish families who are grieving the death of a loved one. The Ministry also offers assistance with funeral Masses and receptions held in Crespi Hall.

Docents Association

The Carmel Mission Docent Association (CMDA) was founded in 2005. The organization was formed to serve in the capacity of historical stewardship for the Mission and its art and artifacts and to provide a welcoming presence and historical information to our many visitors.

Eucharistic Adoration

Eucharistic Adoration is a special devotion whereby people of our ministry dedicate their time to be present with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament to honor, adore and pray to Him. The Blessed Sacrament is displayed on the altar of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in a special vessel called a monstrance. All are invited to this special time of prayer to absorb the presence of Our Lord.
