MEETING PLANNERS,
TRAVEL AGENTS AND TOUR DIRECTORS
We welcome tour requests
from many different groups such as
escorted tour groups, cruise ship tours,
corporate outings and events, and event
planners. We are happy to work with
local hotel concierges to provide tours
for their guests and business clients.
We also welcome wedding parties and
their guests in conjunction with their
wedding rehearsals. We would be pleased
to provide a guided tour for your
clients of the Carmel Mission to bring
to life the most important facts and
aspects of the development of our 31st
state. The Carmel Mission is one of
most frequented attractions on the
Central Coast, and it attracts visitors
from around the world because of its
unique place in history.
Brief opening comments by
your tour guide will set the stage for
the arrival of the Franciscan
missionaries, most importantly Fr.
Junipero Serra, and the Spanish
settlers, the conditions prevalent at
that time, the development of the
mission system, their subsequent decay
and finally their restoration. We cover
the history, art and architecture that
have helped shape the state of
California. The tour includes the
Mission grounds, museums, cemetery,
quadrangle and the beautifully restored
Mission Basilica.
The tour will be tailored
to meet your group's requirements as
to length (45 minutes to 1.5 hours),
physical abilities, areas of special
interests (art, mission history,
architecture, religious history, etc.)
and time of day. Our trained Docent
tour guides will be assigned according
to your particular group’s interests,
and you will have an opportunity to
speak with your guide before arrival if
you desire.
Every effort will be made
to make this experience of early
California history as meaningful
as possible for your clients. The cost
is $7.00 per person and the tours can be
scheduled during the day or in the
evening. These funds are used to
support the continued restoration of the
Carmel Mission.
